Victor Saglier – Jardinière Art Nouveau silver-plated
Victor Saglier (1809-1894) was a master goldsmith in Paris and became known for his Art Nouveau designs, just as this jardinière is a typical design of Art Nouveau.
Victor Saglier designed pieces for Gallé, Daum and Majorelle. He designed objects for everyday use, such as vases, saucers, glass objects with metal frames, and jardinières. After his death the company was continued under the name Saglier & Frères in Paris.
This is a large jardinière in the Art Nouveau style, made to be used and it is made of silver-plated metal.
The jardinière has the moving or curved lines of Art Nouveau with a floral decor and two curved handles.
At the bottom is the mark of Victor Saglier.
