Affortunato Gory – The Oriental Dancer
An Art Deco statue by Affortunato Gory (1895-1925) made of gilded bronze with body parts such as arms, legs, stomach and head carved from ivory.
During the dance, she throws a cloth up behind her back and looks down. With the other, left hand, she holds this cloth up while she lifts her left leg.
The clothing is inspired by the oriental-dressed dancers who performed in the nightclubs of Paris.
The statue stands on a white onyx pedestal.
