Joseph Cormier / Joe Descomps – Femme drapée / Draped woman
A large version of the sculpture titled “Femme Drapee”. A nude woman sitting on her knees in a classical pose that occurred in many classical statues. She has a cloth over her knees which she holds with one hand at her neck, behind her back. Influenced by the sculptor Maillol, the woman’s figure is masculine, a hallmark of Art Deco. The hair, unlike in Art Nouveau, is also pulled back tightly on her head.
It is a light green patinated bronze sculpture, made with the lost wax technique: Stamped Cire Perdue No 1, Bronze caster: Leblanc Barbedienne
