Joe Descomps – Bronze figure “Diane”

A bronze art deco statue of the goddess of the hunt “Diane” who is partly on her knees and holding a bow in one hand. The bow is pointed downward, as if she has just shot the arrow. The statue is partly gold patinated and the cloth she wears under her breasts is brown patinated with inlaid silver geometric surfaces and lines. The statue is signed in the bronze base with J. Descomps.

The statue of Joe Descomps rests on a white veined marble base.

About Joe Descomps (1869-1950):
He started as a goldsmith and later specialized in sculpting. He exhibited in the Salon des Artistes in Paris from 1891 to 1937. He became known for the numerous art deco statues he made in bronze and sometimes in combination with ivory, chryselephantine statues. As an artist he has won several awards with his images.
