Demetre H. Chiparus – the Egyptian dancer

A cold patinated bronze Art Deco statue from Demetre Chiparus (1886-1947) of a dancer dressed in an Egyptian style. She stretches both arms above her head and has placed one leg in front of the other.
She wears a cloth around her model which is held together by a madman in the form of a scarab. This scarab also appears on top of her sandals.
She wears a black patinated headscarf.

The statue rests on a black marble portor plinth, which has a gilded bronze plaque with an Egyptian representation on the front.
At the bottom is the signature of DH Chiparus.
The marble plinth also has the signature of Chiparus.
The statue is numbered at the bottom of the plinth.
